Sheryl Abel, Founder and CEO
H.O.P.E. Inc. NFP of Midwest was founded in 2004 by C.E.O., Sheryl Abel. The foundation is funded by private donations and grants. We also provide support and services for those incarcerated, their caregivers and their children.
God has endowed Sheryl with a sincere purpose in reaching out to formerly incarcerated women and men and those at risk.
Sheryl has humbly accepted her calling. She understands the trauma of those incarcerated, having traveled that road herself. Now it is her life's work to help as many people as she can; to embrace the same peace that God has given her. A peace that will allow them to erase the pain of their past, and replace it with HOPE for the future.

In May 2024, Ms. Sheryl Abel was honored by Americorps and the Office of US President Joseph R. Biden with the prestigious President's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her lifelong commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service.
In August 2024, Mayor Nathaniel George Booker and the Village of Maywood Board of Trustees recognized Ms. Sheryl Abel for the significant contributions that HOPE Inc. has made to the Maywood community and greater Proviso Township.
HOPE Inc. was proud to witness the recognition of local, county, state and federal officials during the annual GSA Global Eye Awards Celebration for their significant contributions and support of non-for-profit organizations.
